Relapse Prevention

Relapse Prevention at Dr. Reid Daitzman, Ph.D.

I AM HERE TO HELP YOU WITH YOUR CURRENT SITUATION.

Once in recovery it is hard to remain in recovery. Are you afraid all the progress you just made in therapy will slip away? There is help to help prevent it and maintain the progress you have made.

A practical problem in mental health care is relapse and its prevention, especially if recently released from being an in-patient institution for substance abuse and other addictions. If certain steps are not taken, it is sometimes impossible not to relapse. However, this problem is more about learning history than "personality" and or not wanting to remain clean and sober. This is why many people "fail" after so much effort, when this failure is far from inevitable.

Relapse is especially real with substance abuse, the addictions (alcohol, drugs, sex), bulmia and other long-standing genetic and life-style choice problems.

Once back "in the real world" away from daily support and exposed to the same triggers (people, places and circumstances) there is a normal and natural tendency to return to your old ways, unless specific types of actions are taught to identify high risk situations and new coping skills to control them.

This specialized intervention is time-limited. I understand that you might be "tired" of therapy. That is the point. We will identify high-risk situations and what to do about them armed with new self-control skills.

There is nothing more disheartening to relapse. It affects your family and support groups, and creates a sense of depression, fear and despair. This relapse prevention is a normal part of care, or should be.

Don't go it alone. Call Dr. Reid Daitzman, Ph.D. today. He is the only one who listens to your phone calls and messages. Remember, all communications are private and confidential.
