Risk management. Trading psychology is part of risk management, and to remain in the game and competitive, an essential factor in trading.

Trading is emotional governed by rules of psychology and economics. If you can control your emotions, you will let your profits run and cut your losses. Of course, if your private life is in turmoil, we first have to address that, then how and why you trade.

I helped found the field now labeled “behavioral economics” with my groundbreaking, award winning research on psychoendocrinology and how biology and psychology are linked. One application is the emotional roller coaster of trading teaching how to regulate fear and greed, and other NORMAL aspects of trading.

I have been working with traders for 25 years. I also traded the S&P for 20 years. I know the markets (equities, debt, commodities) the lingo, strategies and technical analysis. In the end, working with traders is an application of cognitive behavior therapy no different than sport psychology. Don’t see all this it as a “stigma,” but as a logical choice leading to a competitive advantage.

People trade for fun, profit, excitement, boredom, to lose (yes!), for “something to do all day,” to feel alive, to escape, as a job, to exercise control and for that spurt of adrenaline and dopamine (neurotransmitters) that reward leading to overtrading, and addictions. In essence, people trade to self-regulate optimal level of arousal (OLA). What this means to you is explored with tangible results.

I will teach you to identify these positive and negative cues and triggers and make you a more effective trader. Take this questionnaire.
